Meet the 2024 Livestock Judges

2024 Otero County Fair Poultry and Rabbit Judge: Shelby Gillette Shelby's bio: Shelby Gillette is a 22-year-old from Las Cruces, New Mexico. She is currently going to college to become a teacher. Shelby was involved in 4-H for 11 years and did FFA throughout middle and high school. She showed rabbits and poultry as well as dairy heifers. In addition to showing, she was also Doña Ana County's vice president and a New Mexico State ambassador so she loves leadership! Shelby is so grateful for her time raising animals and honored to be judging for the next generation! Shelby loved her time showing and loves to help anyone be as passionate as she is.

2024 Otero County Fair Beef Judge: Abby O'Connor Abby's Bio: Abby O'Connor, her husband Josh, and their one-year-old daughter Blair reside in Moriarty, NM on the family's ranch where they raise 1,600 head of registered Hereford, Angus, and Charolais cattle. Abby attended Northwestern Oklahoma A&M where she was successful on the livestock judging team. From there, she transferred to Texas Tech University where she competed on the livestock judging team, and was an All-American. She is now the Marketing Director for New Mexico Cattle Growers' Association.

2024 Otero County Fair Lamb and Goat Judge: Lexi Hunt Lexi's Bio: Lexi Hunt is from Buckeye, Arizona where she grew up heavily involved in the agriculture and livestock industry. Lexi is currently finishing up her sophomore year at South Plains College in Levelland, TX, where she is pursuing a degree in Animal Science. She is also a member of the Livestock Judging Team and is coming off a successful judging season where she was named the High Individual at the North American and Reserve High Individual at the American Royal. Lexi plans to transfer to Texas Tech University to complete her Bachelor's degree and further her judging career. She is looking forward to the opportunity to work with your youth and sort through their projects.

2024 Otero County Fair Pig Judge: Josh O'Conner Josh's bio: Josh O'Connor was born and raised in Levelland, TX where he grew up showing pigs through FFA. Josh judged livestock at Butler Community College and now works at Bill King Ranch in Stanley, NM with his wife and her family. Josh and his wife Abby have a one-year-old daughter named Blair. Josh and Abby also own O'Connor Livestock and raise show pigs. Josh looks forward to working with your youth and sorting through their pigs.
