With all of the uncertainties we face today, there is one thing we are certain of: The Fair Must Go On!  The 2020 Otero County Fair is still our main focus, however this year’s fair will be much different from past fairs.  With COVID-19 concerns and government health orders currently limiting mass gatherings, the Otero County Fair Association Board of Directors has decided to focus on the key mission of our county fair: “To provide an event based on the values of honesty, integrity, sportsmanship and showmanship.”  Therefore this year’s fair will consist only of the Junior Livestock show and sale, Indoor Exhibits such as Fine Arts, Photography, and Home Arts projects and the Fair and Rodeo Queen Pageant.  Limited access to the fairgrounds will be carefully planned to ensure proper yet practical social distancing.  The general public will be able to view the shows virtually through our Facebook Page Otero County Fair & Rodeo and our website oterocountyfair.com.  Deadlines for entries, rules, times and dates will all be published through our online means so you won’t miss a bit of the action!  As our state moves through government imposed restrictions, and as more options for gathering become allowable and safe, our plan may change but for now, we are looking forward to an exciting new way to support the youth in Otero County.  The Otero County Fair Association board and staff thank this great community for the years and years of support and wish each and every one of you a  safe and healthy summer!

Otero County Fair and Rodeo is an organization based in Alamogordo, NM. We host one of the most excellent county fairs in the area. With a facility that has about 26 acres in size, there are a myriad of things you can do within our fair!

Queen Pageants

We have several pageant shows that are designed to promote interest in agriculture and showcase the skills, knowledge, and confidence of each participant. These are:

  • Fair and Rodeo Queen


Our fair provides several rodeo events, such as our Ranch Rodeo and a rodeo sanction by the New Mexico Rodeo Association (NMRA).

Venue Rental

Facility Use and Rates

  • Facility rental hours are 6:00 AM to midnight.
  • Setup and teardown are the responsibility of the renter and are charged at 1/2 the daily rental fee.
  • Banners and signs are not allowed on our gates or fences without prior approval of the Otero County Fair Association manager.
  • Security is required at events with a large public attendance and other events at the management’s discretion.
  • To secure a reservation, contact the fair manager. No less than five days prior to an event: a contract must be signed by the lessee and the fair manager or a member of the fair board, all rental rates and deposits paid, a Commercial General Liability Insurance Certificate of at least $1,000,000 furnished by the lessee, and a food permit issued by the New Mexico Environmental Department furnished by the lessee if applicable.
  • Cleaning of the facility is the responsibility of the lessee. Deposits are refundable only after the fair manager or a fair board member has inspected the facility and given clearance, and all keys, if any, are returned.
  • Requests for special consideration and settlement of any disputes shall be addressed to the fair board.
  • Garbage dumpster is included. Each additional dumpster is $100. A $50 fee per dump will be charged if deemed necessary by the fair manager (refundable if not needed).
